MOUNT CENTRAL
architectureRED were commissioned by ETA Star to design the massing and engineer a façade system for Mount Central – a prime commercial and hotel building on Chennai’s arterial Mount Road. The building, an L shaped 9 storey structure had to reflect the developers vision for a contemporary and iconic architecture.
The design process revolved around creating a layered façade of louvers and glass, which would cut down on heat gain and provide a screen for the building.
The aluminum louvers are spaced based on factors ranging from sun angles to providing unobstructed views outside. The net effect is an elegant screen system which is modular and iconic, and cutting down on heat gain, thereby reducing the buildings energy consumption.
