The third expansion of Dierks + Bohle was carried out for the main headquarters of the law firm which specialises in health law in an office building in a prominent location on Kurfürstendamm in late 2013. The new offices extend over two floors, which are designed in a way which is both representative and supports work. A formal, stringent design concept, the form of which formulates a clear black/white concept was developed from the existing building structure of the new build with some angular room shapes. White components such as the reception counter and the representative steps as the connection between the two levels of the office shape the room. Black painted inner sides of the built-in furniture and offset parts in the ceilings contrast with the white surfaces. Individual walnut furniture elements emphasise the features of this colour concept. The alternation between opening and narrowing areas of the hall creates open room areas for specific uses, such as the library, the tea kitchen and common areas. These offer space for further information exchange or temporary work. The interactive conference rooms are equipped with white built-in furniture which integrated the extensive media technology and if necessary can be converted for a range of different uses. A differentiated light concept creates a permanently bright room feeling: modest, barely visible built-in LED lights in the ceiling ensure indirect but also concentrated lighting. Subtle light coves in the entrance area and on the stairs, in the bathrooms and in the conference room add to the lighting concept.
