The Düsseldorf branch of the renowned law firm of Dierks+Bohle.is located on the Rhine harbor basin within walking distance of the old town. The law offices are distributed over the entire 16th floor of DOCK 2, a 17 story office building with a distinctive facade by Dutch architect Jo Coenen.
The law office spaces follow the design theme of the Berlin location. The strict black/ white concept was taken up and adapted to this property. White built-in furniture contrasts with the black surfaces of walls, ceiling, floor covering and recesses in furniture and door frames. In the office spaces, the white work tables are combined with black chairs. The offices, reception, waiting area and large conference room are arranged in the outer zone. The internal corridor with the surrounding white wall covering picks up the ancillary areas and forms the library, archive, kitchenette and break area.
The door openings and projecting planes of interior windows in the corridor walls allow daylight to reach the circulation zone and provide a view of the Rhine lowlands. The preserved metal cassette ceiling of the existing building was partly supplemented by ceiling panels that build on the existing ceiling concept. LED linear luminaires in offset formation highlight the internal corridor area.
The light-colored natural stone frame of the external facade penetrates the conference room and naturally becomes part of the ceiling design. Retrofitted ceiling panels handle lighting, ventilation and acoustical treatment.
