MACCHIA Architecture

Space created by Macchia extraction in children's daily life

Peter Bruegel's "Children's Play" shows Macchia clearly, with children's movements in the picture and the background of the historic land. In this work, the two of the elements and actions of the town are considered as Macchia and analyzed. And we are designing a nursery school that models that scene as a Macchia.

Currently, there are many child care environments where programs are divided according to age and space. As a result, the concept of children is considered to be defined from the environment. The target area is an apple nursery school in Nabeshima Town, Saga City, Saga Prefecture. Extracts Macchia from children's daily life. The Kakikyu region in the background is a historic land where patchwork-like spatial structures have been formed by people's activities since ancient times. Select the target site and target people, and extract and analyze the Macia and background found there.

There is a memorable space after a person is born. Memory is considered a cutout of the rhythm expressed in scale and visual colour. Impressive scenes can be seen in an artistic way of expressing them as a pattern of colors called macchia separated from the background. Peter Bruegel's children's play demonstrates the movements of children against the backdrop of historic land. In this work, two elements of the town and their related behaviors are regarded as Machia and analyzed. From there, design a nursery school architecture that models the scene created by the town's Bricolage as a Macchia. According to this proposal, the space where various elements of Macchia and background elements are combined is scattered, and the spatial sequence is produced. The act of looking up and down is closely related to the "feelings" and "encounters" of children's daily lives. From there, the child finds a space that suits their experience and feels strongly what happened on the spot. The memory brought about by the experience and the discomfort of color spots remain as a space experience. Children's daily experiences and usages will appear as a Macchia space, and local scenery as a background space. The existing nursery school is planned as a childcare facility for 0-5 year olds and a nursery school for elementary school students. Macchia spaces are scattered randomly on the site. Children connect dots with unspecified movements and new beast-like paths emerge. And a complex space that cannot be defined is created. This is an architectural proposal that combines a child's experience with bricolage elements to create color patches of memory.
