Connecting views in multiple directions.
The site is located in the suburbs of Hiroshima City, with the Yawata River flowing to the west and a view of the mountains leading to Yurai Hot Springs to the north.
To the south is the wooded area of the family home, providing a rich environment with views in many directions. The owner chose to leave his home in the center of Hiroshima City to live in a place where he could enjoy a rich natural environment and be surrounded by the tools and plants of his hobby. The house in Yawata is a house with views in multiple directions, and the entire structure is designed to showcase each direction in its own unique way.
[South direction]
A large south garden and LDK were placed to create a connection with the garden of the parents' house in front of the house. The deep eaves and terrace are designed to control the sunlight while providing shelter from the rain for the plants. In addition, a wide staircase facing the south garden allows the residents to sit and enjoy the view of the garden.
[Northward].
The view of the mountains leading to Yurai Hot Springs can be seen. The staircase landing has been extended and a counter has been added to create a study area. The counter is not only for climbing up and down the stairs, but also for sitting down to read a book.
[Looking west]
The Yawata River can be seen from the house, but because of the heavy traffic, a wall has been erected. By cutting the wall at an angle, an intermediate area between “open” and “closed” has been created, allowing the view and sound of the river to be enjoyed even when the area is closed. Furthermore, the slope of the wall, which is in line with the roof, creates an integrated connection with the building and harmonizes with the mountains in the distance.
We hope that the enjoyment of views in multiple directions will enrich daily life, and that the space created by connecting the views will blend in with the environment.
