Meet the Met's New Architecture Curator

On March 3, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City announced that Beatrice Galilee has been appointed the Daniel Brodsky Associate Curator of Architecture and Design, part of the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art. The announcement follows Galilee's stint as Chief Curator of the 2013 Lisbon Architecture Triennale, Close, Closer, which ran from September to December last year. The announcement also comes one year before the Met is poised to take over the Whitney Museum of American Art's nearby Marcel Breuer-designed building at 75th Street and Madison Avenue.

Previous to Close, Closer, Galilee was co-curator at 2011 Gwangju Design Biennale, co-curator at 2009 Shenzhen Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, and Architecture Editor for Icon Magazine. In a statement, the Met's CEO Thomas P. Campbell stated: "She brings to the position her strong international experience in the presentation and study of architecture and design-related work." Galilee will begin work at the museum in the spring.
