For the Motion. Autos, Art, Architecture exhibition now at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Gramazio Kohler Research is revisiting its ten-year-old Flight Assembled Architecture project, adding virtual inhabitants to the utopian city for 30,000 inhabitants.
Flight Assembled Architecture originated in 2012, when it was conceived by Gramazio and Matthias Kohler with Raffaello D’Andrea for an exhibition at the FRAC Centre in Orléans, France. A 1:100 scale model was built by drones during the course of that earlier exhibition. The project has been revisited for Motion. Autos, Art, Architecture, with the six-meter-tall model accompanied by screens showing the 200 virtual avatars that occupy a digital version of the vertical village for 30,000 residents. A short film explains the project:

Lord Foster provides a tour of the exhibition, which is on display at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao until September 18, 2022:
