Our design proposal RomboQ in Quito, Ecuador, commissioned in 2014, was made for a lot located at the intersection of two of the most important avenues of the inner city: one is a commercial axis and the other one is one of the most exclusive residential avenues with stunning views on the surrounding mountains and valleys. The building's design was thought to emphasize this collision, creating space for office and retail in the lower half of the building, oriented to the commercial avenue, and a volume with residential units oriented towards the surroundings. These two functional blocks are stacked on top of each other and are rotated towards their individual orientation. The facade is then wrapped around, unifying the volumes and giving the building it's dynamic form. The inclined planes are terraced, creating green outdoor spaces like balconies and loggias.
