The reception center was conceived as a main landmark for Guanggu New Energy campus. It serves as the preeminent arrival point to the site as well as a gateway to the lake. The building is formed by two long bars peeling away from each other and opening out to the lake. A long covered walkway connects the bars and leads the people to the lake. The first floor contains exhibition space and a cafeteria, and the second floor houses more private/administrative functions like offices and conference rooms. The triangular covered outdoor space formed between the two parts can be used for various activities. The building mass is made to slowly emerge out of the landscape making it a part of the landscape. The entire site is articulated with long flowing walls making the building an integral part of the landscape. The longer sides of the building are north-south orientated to reduce the energy load.
