Eric Klaver

Eric joined PLANT Architect in 2013 to lead the firm’s team of landscape architects. Known for his thoughtful and sustainable landscape designs that celebrate local culture, and having cultivated a focused interest in the ways art, science, nature, and culture intersect with designed environments, Eric specializes in the design of regional-scale projects including college courtyards, rooftop gardens, and urban plazas, as well as larger-scale projects such as watersheds and ecosystems.
Eric is a former Associate and Senior Landscape Architect of Moriyama & Teshima Planners where he managed such projects as the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, The Science and Research Building at the University of Toronto Scarborough, and the Calgary RiverWalk and East Village Streetscape in Alberta. He has also served as Partner of Elysium Structures + Landforms, and as Sole Proprietor of TRACT Landscapes. During his time at Moriyama & Teshima Planners, Eric’s team won two Governor General’s Medals in Architecture for their design of The Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat and Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. He graduated from Ryerson Polytechnic University in 1994.

Chris Pommer

Chris Pommer is a founding partner of PLANT Architect Inc. He graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Architecture in 1987, working with Ferguson Ferguson Architects before founding PLANT in 1994. In addition to his role in the field of architecture, Pommer worked as a Senior Designer with Bruce Mau Design in Toronto, exploring type, book, exhibition, and identity. Pommer has both taught and lectured at the University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, and University of Manitoba, and he has co-directed an architecture studio at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago as a visiting Professor. 

Lisa Rapoport

Lisa Rapoport is a founding partner of PLANT Architect Inc. She graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Architecture in 1987, working for several Toronto firms prior to founding PLANT in 1994. Rapoport has served both as an adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo and as the Richard Driehaus visiting Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. She has co-directed architecture studios at the University of Toronto and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, and currently serves as a guest critic at the University of Toronto, University of Waterloo and Ryerson University in the disciplines of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Urban Design. 

Mary Tremain

Mary Tremain is a founding partner of PLANT Architect Inc. She graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Architecture with a Bachelor of Honours in Architecture in 1986. Prior to founding PLANT, Tremain worked at several architectural practices in New Zealand and Toronto where she oversaw a wide range of architectural and landscapes projects including residential homes and gardens, community gardens, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, and restaurant renovations. Tremain has served as an adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto and has co-directed architecture studios at both the University of Toronto and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
