'We Don't Like Your House Either'

Largely self-taught but mentored by Frank Lloyd Wright, Goff is described in the documentary as one of the "unlikely heroes of contemporary architecture" and "an authentic subversive." In six decades of working in Oklahoma, Texas and Chicago, Goff produced nearly 150 buildings, most of them houses in the Midwest; just about all of them departed from the orthogonal, earning his architecture the "organic" label. Riding a wave of popularity in the 1960s and 70s but falling out of favor after his 1982 and the rise of Postmodernism, Goff's work is ready for an appreciation as the buildings of a number of contemporary architects echo the curves, angles and flowing spaces of Goff's intuitve architecture.
