Földes Architects was founded by László Földes in Budapest in 1994. Our projects are both residential (private dwelling houses, apartment houses) and public buildings (health centres, churches, museums, schools). Each project is planned in small teams of 2-3 architects. Conventional architectural models are just as important for us as 3D computer renderings. Our philosophy is to follow "regional directions". We wish to amplify the individual building's identity by using natural and local materials like stone, brick and wood. We fundamentally believe in architectural continuity, but remain open to new ideas. We were the first practice in history to use "LiTraCon” (light transmitting concrete), Áron Losonczy’s world famous invention, which has received several awards. Tradition plays an important role for us in our architectural design, not through traditional forms or features, but as we try to understand and express the deeper layers of our heritage.
