Health Centre

The health centre is located a couple of hundred meters from the city center in Balatonalmádi by the foot of the mountain. The building is situated between a major park at the end of the Petőfi Sándor street and some modern style apartment buildings that characterizes the street. The building appears as a harmonious seal to the row of the street line. The house follows the striped form of the building line of the street and at the same time its public space structure connects the spacious green area of the park. The small scaled landscape and architectural elements eliminate the building from its surroundings; the delimited architectural joint creates a delicate transition between the different functions. This placement assures the opportunity of an extension if it is needed in the future.

The high-tech glass bridges connecting the blocks and the facades from the inner court padded with a mixture of local red stone and brick coating, of the same color, give the building a public character. 2 out of the three slipped blocks is shown fully from the street side following the rhythm and set-up of the apartment houses. This is enhanced by the large openings of the inner corridors facing the court that creates a direct contact between the interior spaces - the yard and the street. Unlike the straight edged sealing’s of the surrounding apartment buildings the moving of the main volume's roof resulted in a more human-friendly design while it does not disturb the unity of the street.  The building compounds the present pure geometrical forms of the street and the traditional architectural characteristics.

The function required nearly the same sized rooms that could be divided, in the aspect of use, into three bigger units. This also justified the functionally and the formation of the three separated blocks. The biggest volume on the side of the park houses the general practice clinics on the ground floor; this is the main entrance of the building. In the middle mass the medical service can be found on the ground floor and the offices and training rooms on the first and second floors, while the child care is located in the third block. All of the units have separated entrances so they can be used independently.
