Ambiente 2025 Hospitality Academy – Talk+Podium+Walk: Sebastian Pajakowski + Björn Rapanis

Building for guests
Architect and hotelier perspectives
For truly happy guests, hoteliers and architects must work closely together. Like Architect Sebastian Pajakowski and hotelier Björn Rapanis.

The design by FRANKEN for the 100-room lyf East (former Lindley Lindenberg) guest community in Frankfurt consists of a seven-storey block with a “Wunderkiste” at the front. With cast iron, plaster and clinker brick as well as floor-to-ceiling glazing, the design connects the common areas with the hotel and is inspired by Wilhelminian industrial architecture. On the ground floor there are as mostly public uses, but in lyf other common rooms, some of which are two-storey, are surprisingly developed vertically over the full height of the building. This showcase makes the guest community a visible part of the city's society.
