This is a plan for a rental housing complex on a flagpole site surrounded by high-rise buildings. The distorted U-shaped volume allows each unit to benefit from light, wind, and sight lines from both the gaps between the surrounding buildings and the courtyard. While envisioning a variety of contents in the courtyard in the future, the first priority was to create a place where residents would want to stay alone, creating a moderate relationship and distance between residents in an urban rental housing complex.
