With the new construction of the SOS Kinderdorf, a new urban center will be created for the inhabitants of the surrounding area. The placement of the buildings around a central square with a generous driveway for the day care center combined with the two-storey building creates a village and personal atmosphere.
The main feature of the square is the old structure. At the same time it forms the entrance to all three buildings: the administration, the day care center as well as the multi-generational house. The footpath between the Matthias-Erzberger-Straße and the Garather Schlossallee will remain, so that a connection between the existing pedestrian zone and the new center with children's playground and café will be established.
