The textile company Maharam expanded to the floor below their existing two-story showroom, to occupy floors 14-16 of a Park Avenue South building. A staircase was added between floors 14 and 15, connecting the middle floor conference rooms and offices with the lower floor conference room, sample display area, photo studio, kitchenette and canteen. The renovation improved the circulation of the overall space by making more access points to the different functions: instead of a warren of crowded rooms, circulation wraps a single core. New windows allow abundant natural light into the space, and the glass- walled conference rooms and offices enjoy auditory privacy while admitting daylight through the entire floor depth. Simple, restrained finishes grey painted wood and stone flooring keep the office airy and light.
