Between the Kurfürstendamm and the streets of Uhland and Lietzenburger, the new Ku’damm Karree is taking shape. Based on extensive new construction, reconstruction and renovation measures, the Karree attains a higher clarity in urban development and leads back to the origin of vital city district. The design blends harmoniously into the urban environment, yet establishes its own accents. The base of the high-rise building will be demolished, giving the redesigned tower more presence. The interior block becomes a vibrant and leafy town square, perfect for rest and relaxation. The square offers a theatre pavilion with café, and is the central link to the newly created passages between the Karree and surrounding city. In addition to office space, top class commercial properties and a new hotel are planned on the Ku’damm. Restaurants and cultural institutions will experience a boost, such as the theatre or the “Story of Berlin” exhibition, while roof terraces increase the comfort and convenience of visitors. Horizontally and vertically partitioned façades, over which a delicate and vivid game plays out, lightly hint at the structure of the static design. The selected materiality of the natural stone, glass and aluminium exudes elegance while also providing greater energy efficiency. Comprehensive offers from local suppliers, abundant multi-use spaces, a kindergarten and leisure facilities round out the utilization concept.
