James T. Hunt Bar

A dream came true for the Munich based architects ARNOLD/WERNER, when they recently launched an American Bar, alongside their old friend Niels Jäger. Located in Maxvorstadt - which happens to be on a noteworthy comeback in Bavaria's capital- the new spot is the latest addition to their established venues: BOBBEAMAN MUSIC CLUB and EDMOSES BAR. A place just as casual, easy going and inspiring...

"James T. Hunt Bar" About 100 years ago, a constant stream of artists like Kandinsky and Ringelnatz lived, worked and enjoyed life around the Schellingstrasse in Munich's happening universiy district. The neighborhood bar is situated in the heart of this artistic quarter, which also happens to be Arnold/Werner's private stomping ground of choice.

To achieve a very unique atmosphere, the architects blended the concept of a traditional bar - with that of an intimate music club....

Liquors & Vinyl In a former antique shop, guests can "digg the crates" for vintage vinyl and play their own records. And -of course- enjoy selected cocktails, as well as beverages, including the local Tergernseer Hell beer. The refreshingly friendly crew also serves homemade bar foods.

The Room A custom-made tin bar is the room's social focal point. Above and around the historic wall paneling (which was salvaged from the Austrian Hotel Britannia) Uli Hackl's abstract art adds a whole new dimension to the space. The artist from Berlin created a bustling white chalk arrangement on the dark walls and ceiling. An extensive Chesterfield sofa (7 meters) invites guests to stay...just a little longer.

The Lighting Filament light bulbs and lateral candle-lit porcelain lamps, made by the Milan designers Dante, illuminate the bar with warm light.

The Salon The "Jochen Rind Salon" at the back of the bar, provides additional space for private conversations and small festivities.

A curved wooden bench (oak feat. linoleum coating) shapes the room organically. Floor and walls are covered with black carpet, which leads to an intimate atmosphere and ideal acoustics.

Already a Munich favorite, we suggest you come early, reserve or visit on weekdays.

The trottoir outside of the bar provides space for about 10 small tables - and should be a crowd favorite come summertime...
