In 2013, the sisters and the Board of Trustees decided, in line with the purpose of the foundation, to build an extended community living facility on their site alongside the sisterhood.
The existing complex will be supplemented with two replacement buildings and a new building. In terms of typology, the buildings are based on the slope-parallel longitudinal setting and the large-grained existing buildings typical of the area. Their positioning and design create a protected common center and allow for deliberate visual references to the surroundings. The centerpiece, the new terraced center, serves to create an address, identify the common home and as a social hub and meeting place for community activities of all kinds. A differentiated, varied range of housing is intended to enable people from young to old to live across generations.
Due to its proximity to the St. Chrischona ISOS property, the project was accompanied and strongly supported by the cantonal monument preservation authorities and the Federal Commission for the Protection of Nature and Cultural Heritage. The central square design and the planned structural changes will strengthen the hamlet-like development form, creating an atmospheric place with a high quality of living and life.
With the various living communities, the purpose of the foundation can be maintained despite the decreasing number of sisters.
