The site is located in Komatsu-cho, Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture, an area of flat land. The site overlooks the Ishizuchi mountain range, one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan, and the Nakayama River, which originates from the Ishizuchi mountain range, flows to the east of the site. Near the site, there is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot (mountain pass) called Sakura San-ri, and cherry trees line the Nakayama River in early spring, as if derived from this famous cherry blossom viewing spot. The client desired a house that maximizes this rich environment.

First, in consideration of the environment where wind passes from east to west, a blank space was left on the west side of the site, and the building was placed on the east side. The building was then divided into two parts and opened up in a fan shape to maximize the view. The east exterior wall extends to the ground in line with the slope of the roof, and not only functions as a fence to gently block the view of the neighboring houses, but also seems to reach out in the direction of the scenic view, gently enveloping the house from a different perspective. In addition, by opening a gap in the fan-shaped form, a valley is created that serves as a ventilation channel, allowing cool breezes from the river to pass through the living rooms. The entranceway opens through the approach on the west side, revealing a valley with light streaming in from the back, through which a panoramic view spreads out, creating a story of flow lines. This creates a variety of interior expressions. The terrace with full frontage leading from the LDK is protected by deep eaves and provides a place for various gatherings.

By confronting the environment, neither confronting nor merging with it, and by honestly embodying the state of things as they are without any strain, a rich expanse and inclusiveness is created in this residence.
