With the new construction of the Schlossresidenz as an extension of the Hotel am Schloss, a new, contemporary hotel has arisen in Aurich in East Frisia for the guests of the town. For more than four hundred years the secret capital of East Frisia, the residence was the centre of regional politics and culture. The history of the location is still perceptible today. In the grounds of the new building there was already the residence of an Oldenburg count in the 12th century, which over the centuries was developed in various hands and building styles. A serious fire led to the destruction and rebuilding of the "Piqueurhof" in the neo-classical style. As a consequence, the listed main house of the hotel became known as a masterpiece of the art of building in Aurich. Directly neighbouring the castle of Aurich built in the English historism Tudor style and the historic Marstall building, the Schlossresidenz now extends the castle ensemble and skilfully connects history with the past. The new building with its 41 new hotel rooms was built by the local firm ULPTS Architekten.
While the historic character of the plaster facade with filigree railing elements and the colour of the window frames makes the design connection to the existing hotel at Aurich castle, the design of the interior rooms is modern while remaining timeless. A high-quality building has arisen based on the many travel experiences of the owner family. Great store was placed on outstanding quality: the 41 rooms and suites are generously sized, fully air-conditioned and have modern equipment. High-quality materials, a combination of wood surfaces, natural stone and selected textiles form a well-rounded interior-design concept. Spacious beds and bathrooms and a harmonious interior create a feel-good atmosphere.
Fittingly for the goal of maximum comfort, the Schlossresidenz was equipped with the intelligent KNX system from JUNG. Operation is with F40 push-button sensors from the LS 990 range in brass. Furthermore, the design classic in matt black is used. All rooms are equipped with JUNG key card holders. Furthermore, the rooms and suites have DAB+ radios from JUNG, which integrate into the design both visually and technically. In this way, the guests can start their day with their favourite station in the morning.
