In April 2016, the property at St. Alban-Vorstadt 12 became the property of the Christoph Merian Foundation. With the acquisition of this property, which comprises three houses, CMS is gradually relocating its headquarters. In a first stage, the front building from 1865, which is located on the street, was carefully renovated and converted. It contains the reception area, a spacious meeting room on the first floor as well as individual and group offices for the management, the staff, the human resources department and the three support departments. The general planners Rolli + Boss Architekten were commissioned with the planning work.
Hübschergestaltet was responsible for the lighting concept.
The luminous glass elevator shaft, which is present as a lighting fixture throughout the building and illuminates the stairwell and the halls in a friendly and inviting manner, forms the heart of the building. The corridors leading from the elevator area and all the workrooms were fitted with new LED pendant luminaires that give the new premises a timeless new light. The newly designed attic was equipped with modern linear LED luminaires, which illuminate the spacious workspace in a way that is suitable for office workstations and is spacious. The entire lighting system complies with the latest technology.
