Cape Town Stadium
Cape Town, South Africa
- Location
- Vlei Road, 7000 Cape Town, South Africa
- Year
- 2010
Cape Town Stadium is situated as a solitary body, embedded in Green Point Common at the foot of Signal Hill and is ordered into the landscaped complex. The shell of the stadium was designed as an abstract, linearly arranged membrane construction, which transforms the stadium into a sculpture and intensifies its integration in the existing landscape. The roof construction is a combination of a suspended roof with radial truss structure. It is outfitted with laminated safety glass elements and its interior is clad with a diaphanous membrane.
