PHILIPP MAINZER has been appointed with the design of a 3000 sqm two storey office building for Taiwanese battery manufacturer Apex in Yancheng, China. The appointment by Apex also includes the interior design of the new building as well as masterplanning of the 9300 sqm surrounding area, adjoining the factory site.

Housing the company’s offices, conference rooms and a dining area, a central element of the design by PHILIPP MAINZER is the creation of an office building that will act both as a company symbol and tool to administer the factory site. With materials and geometry as main focus points, the architecture of the building structure focuses on two rectangular bodies positioned on top of each other. A glass body overlaps the lower structure from exposed concrete, seemingly floating above it and providing for an overhanging roof that projects over the entrance and adjoining street. Planning permission is expected.
