Excerpt from the jury’s protocol: “The historic building will be significantly enhanced by how the design focuses on the main entrance. The new building design dovetails well with the existing structure, especially how the transition from the existing roof top to the new building is addressed. The new design follows the symmetry of the original structure and surrounds a central, spacious courtyard offering high amenity value. The ground floor connects with a corridor to the former riding hall which will now be transformed to a gymnasium and creates a complete complex. The new grandstand adds an extra value for high school sports and school events. The overall accessibility is well arranged and clearly understandable. The relationship of the new development, using the courtyard as a central focus point, was positively perceived by the jury. All work stations feature a direct connection to the outside area. The work stations are clear, simple and lie in the vicinity of the departments of secondary education. The design assures a clear concept that has been implemented consistently and high architectural quality is achieved. The plan emphasizes the good usability of the open space, exterior work stations and other work areas that are easily accessible to other areas within the complex. The total design assures a clear concept that can be implemented."
