As a project architect, Emily Gosack’s passion for solving complex design problems has led her to a wide range of work spanning custom residential, adaptive re-use, and large-scale institutional buildings. Since joining Jensen in 2012, she has expanded her leadership role, chairing the firm’s Business Development Committee and serving as an internal resource on sustainable design. Previously, Emily worked with Rafael Vinoly Architects on the design and detailing of public spaces for the new Stanford Hospital. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies before earning her Master of Architecture at UC Berkeley. Her recent experience includes new offices for the innovative marketing firm, Eleven Inc., and ground-up residence in San Francisco. She is a licensed architect in California
Steve Huegli

Steve Huegli joined Jensen Architects in 2006 and quickly established his penchant for complex projects that draw upon his longstanding interest in building details and technologies. A licensed architect in California, Steve first developed his interest in materials and construction while earning a Bachelor of Architecture at Ohio State University. Later, at the University of California, Berkeley, he received a Masters of Architecture and was awarded the prestigious John K. Branner Traveling Fellowship, enabling him to study architecture and building methods in Northern Africa, Japan and Europe. These studies continue to inform his work on projects ranging from the SFMOMA rooftop sculpture garden and pavilion to a 9,500-square-foot, structurally advanced private residence. As studio director at Jensen, Steve fosters the firm’s design-focused culture by cultivating technical expertise and practice standards within project teams, drawing upon his facility with both digital modeling and hands-on fabrication.
Mark Jensen

As the founder of Jensen Architects, Mark Jensen cultivated his view of the art and science of architecture into an award-winning design practice that celebrates inquisitiveness, craftsmanship, and partnership. These values came naturally to Mark, who grew up among artisans and designers, and deepened through his academic and early experience in the United States and Italy. After earning a Bachelor of Architecture at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, a program recognized for its emphasis on building science, he worked with renowned architects Superstudio, Jim Jennings and Mark Mack, as well as noted fashion designer Enrico Coveri. An active member of the San Francisco Bay Area arts and design community, Mark is a former chair of the California College of the Arts (CCA) Interior Architecture Department and the Headlands Center for the Arts Board of Trustees. Mark’s work is noted for bridging culture and construction: His recent notable projects include the Minnesota Street Project, the David Ireland House and archive, SFMOMA’s sculpture garden, and SHED, a modern grange in Healdsburg. He is a licensed architect in California.
Andy Lin

Over his career, Andy Lin has amassed a breadth of experience through projects ranging from custom residences to wilderness centers, on four continents. His portfolio reflects a deep curiosity about building typologies and building systems, a quality he attributes to growing up amidst the job sites of his father’s development company in Taiwan. A graduate of UC Berkeley, Lin also brings expertise in complex, 3D modeling and a keen interest in detailing. Since joining Jensen in 2012, his passion for untangling complex technical design problems has led to key roles on projects such as the David Ireland House, Float Station and CounterPulse Theater.
Frank Merrit

Frank Merritt joined Jensen Architects in 1998, bringing a passion for quality in everything he does. Whether managing the design and construction of new buildings or overseeing Jensen Architects' marketing and brand management, he advocates the same rigor and discipline that first sparked his interest in architecture as a student. After working as graphic designer in San Diego, he earned a Bachelors of Architecture from California College of the Arts (CCA), where he continues to teach. CCA also is an important client for Frank, who served as project architect on the college’s award-winning Graduate Center. Frank’s multidisciplinary background continues to inform his practice: He collaborates regularly with artists, furniture makers, and graphic designers for his projects. As the firm’s communications director, he mentors staff in business communications, client relations, and practice standards. He is a licensed architect in California.
Dean Orr

As an architect, Dean Orr found his calling in designing better ways of working. He translates his technical expertise and belief that effective management is essential to realizing good design into best practices for navigating the design, entitlements and construction processes. Since joining Jensen Architects in 1999, Dean has managed a diverse portfolio of projects from the award-winning Walden Studios and SFMOMA rooftop sculpture garden to workplace interiors and mixed-use commercial infill developments. As the firm’s operations director, he also oversees the firm’s overall performance, working to continually strengthen Jensen’s capabilities and client service. A contemporary citizen architect, Dean served eight years on the City of Orinda’s planning commission before gaining a seat on the city council, both volunteer roles. He earned a Bachelor of Architecture from California College of the Arts, where he continues to teach, and is a licensed architect in California.
