Between Tracks & Road

 Back to Projects list
Location
Korbach, Germany
Year
2016

Since 2013, a socially and functionally mixed city quarter in direct proximity to the main station of Korbach is being built in close cooperation between the citizens of Korbach, the city administration, the mayor and our office. The building of Vitos Kurhessen is located on a very narrow plot between the train tracks and the street Am Hauptbahnhof. Originally only seven garages were meant to be built. However, we were able to convince the clients to build two more floors to create an appropriate urban element in the neighborhood. The upper part of the building cantilevers to all sides, whereby the effective floor area was considerably expanded.
The building now not only houses garages, but also a psychiatric ambulance for children and adolescents of the Vitos Kurhessen clinic, whose striking shape and use makes it a lively place in the neighborhood.
