Architectural identity for Vifor Pharma

- 2019
The global pharmaceutical company wanted to transform its existing offices into a new working environment that reflected the company's identity and values. At the same time, a new Work Place concept was launched on 9400 m2 of existing office space with the aim of strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration between the different teams and departments. Thus, the numerous individual offices were transformed into large open space offices. Employees were involved in the design process from the beginning and were able to contribute their needs in workshops.
The need for natural light divides the building into two areas. Along the window front, there are five floors of new workstations for around 400 employees, while the social interaction zone includes meeting rooms, networking and quiet zones and a cafeteria. The two areas are separated by a membrane wall that runs through all floors. The wooden wall has both a translucent and sound-absorbing effect. In addition, it serves as a cloakroom, kitchenette or telephone booths.
A special requirement for the entire project was its ecologically sustainable orientation and implementation. Accordingly, materials and products were taken out, cleaned and reused as far as possible.
The corporate design was substantially expanded and the design manual for interior design is used internationally for the redesign of the offices.
In collaboration with Swiss Office Concept.
