Swedish artist Jonas Dahlberg's proposal is chosen to memorialize the 2011 attacks on Osla and Utøya, Norway.
A jury has unanimously selected Swedish artist Jonas Dahlberg as winner of the competition to design the July 22 Memorials in Norway. The memorials will commemorate the lives lost from the two attacks in 2011 – one in Olso and one on the island of Utøya – which are considered the deadliest attacks in Norway since World War II.

Dahlberg is proposing a 3.5-meter-wide "cut" in the given Sørbråten site "to reflect the abrupt and permanent loss of those who died on Utøya." Visitors will traverse one side of the cut, looking across the void to the names written on the opposite wall. The earth taken from the site will be used as the foundation for temporary and permanent memorials at the Government Quarter in Oslo, linking the two sites together.
