MIS Under Construction in Rio

The construction of Diller Scofidio + Renfro's Museum of Image & Sound overlooking Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is documented in a couple short films from MIS.
The distinctive diagonal lines of the facade – clearly evident in the building's in-progress state – make up what the architects describe as the "Vertical Boulevard," a walkway that provides public access to the institution's spaces of leisure and entertainment. DS+R thought of the "thickened facade," as they call it, as an extension of the famous beach that the building overlooks.

Although no date has been set, MIS is expected to open in 2015.
