Cellist Isang Enders visits the Peter Zumthor-designed Bruder-Klaus Chapel in Mechernich, Germany, to perform the Prelude from Bach's Cello Suite No. 1.
It should be noted that the clip was uploaded to You Tube on 20 October, 11 days before Enders' Bach Cello Suites album is released. Additionally, the musician is quoted on his website as saying, "The choice of the wood-paneled Teldex studios for a transparent and warm sound instead of church acoustics and their associations accords with my opinion that the Cello Suites are not sacred music. It also makes Bach more approachable." This statement makes the choice of the Bruder Klaus Chapel an odd one. Nevertheless it's a delight to see and hear a piece of music in such a beautiful piece of architecture.
