Yoga Center in Saifi Village, Beirut

.PSLAB collaborated with architectural design practice CBA Group to define and light the different sections, including the library area, of a Yoga Center in Saifi Village, Beirut.
The library area of the Yoga Center is small and narrow. The intervention involves the creation of supporting plates from which extends a black steel platform serving as support for reading on low-level plates or book shelving on high- level plates. From each supporting plate also extends curving down black steel fixtures, finished with exposed light bulbs. The curvature line of the library’s arcade-shaped roof dictates the upper limit to the lighting fixtures level. Another version of the lighting fixture attached to a low supporting plate with no platform extends towards the upper limit then curves down to the same point as the lower level lighting fixture.
The .PSLAB lighting response defines the functional areas. The fixtures with exposed light bulbs used provide warmth for this quiet space.
