A reinvention of a sun soaked floor-through apartment in an iconic modernist building on Manhattan’s West Side. Floor to ceiling exterior walls of glass are complemented with the introduction of subtly textured elements with a play of light and shadow, executed in lacquer, Corian, and mirror polished steel.
The apartment has been reconfigured to accommodate large-scale entertaining and film screenings in addition to more intimate entertaining and personal use, with a host of features integrating display, storage, technology, and multimedia.
A centerpiece of the renovation is a hidden transforming wet bar with an automated bottle rack in mirror polished stainless that rotates around an existing concrete column. The bar is suspended from the structure above, emerging silently and frictionlessly from behind ribbed lacquer panels, and introduces a cinematic moment of drama to a new functional zone in the apartment.
