Our proposal for Science City endorses a view that application of scientific methods, combined with innovative design thinking, can facilitate radical improvements in Patna’s living environment.
Science City unravels the magical possibility of turning a so-called ‘problem’ on it’s head, and making it have a positive, visible impact on society. Scientific engagement with the flood issue begets a unique bio-diverse public park that, in turn, also supports a sustainable urban health and sanitation solution (biotic cleansing plant).
The project proposal reinforces the notion of design as a creative synthesis that can potentially gather and hold multiple layers of meaning and use: Science City is simultaneously a ‘state of the art’ museum, public garden, pedestrian street and a piece of urban infrastructure.
