In the tradition of great residential colleges, Barrett is a network of interconnected, landscaped courtyards each with its own character and purpose. Beginning with the Palm Court, a public statement of Barrett’s openness to the entire ASU community, the courtyards proceed from the more formal Academic Court to the large, casual College Court, to the more intimate residential courtyards with a small amphitheater, outdoor classrooms and a sand volleyball court. At the heart of the college, at the College Court, the serpentine Dining and Community Center activate the life of the College with a canopy-shaded dining terrace overlooking the largest outdoor court, where most common activities occur.
College dining includes a variety of informal and formal, open and closed rooms to support different needs and programs. Emphasizing Barrett as an academic community, classrooms and faculty offices punctuate the main walkway adjacent to the Academic Court. A generous landscaped public court enhances the prominent southeast corner, welcoming all to the ASU campus. The facility has achieved LEED gold certification.
