The Shenzhen University Science and Technology Building is located at the border that divides the new area and the old central area in the campus. It is separated from other buildings by lush woods. Its unique location and dominant volume make it a landmark for the entire campus. The isotropic form is dictated by this centrality and relative isolation. The building is basically a 53-meter cubic, punctuated at four sides with an a large opening, and encompassing a soaring glass tower. The central glass tube is the transportation and public activity space surrounded by research and teaching spaces. The four 30-meter-long openings provide four sky-gardens and rich plane changes in the building, as well as corridors of natural breeze. The podium houses three auditoria and a exhibition hall. It is surrounded by open colonnade °∞wrapped°± by aluminum grill. This semi transparent fa_ade redefines the architectural space and its outward views. This concrete and glass structure makes an unmistakable subtropical architectural statement.
