The space of the place of Sainte-Anne is now a conurbation area and sub-urban space that is a result of the years of diffe¬rent processes of transformation in the city center of Rennes.
In fact, we can apply the concept of ‘palimpsest‘to define the purpose of the proposed development.
In this way we are finding the meaning and the integration of the urban area of Sainte-Anne in the city of Rennes. Com¬posing a coherent and holistic system of all spaces that will trace the history of formalization of the site.
The urban development of Sainte-Anne is also to become the ‘hub‘of the new centrality of the city. In fact, it is the intersec¬tion of Culture, Civic¸ Exchange and Communication in the public domain in Rennes.
The completion of the church of Saint-Aubin is another urban issue that this project must address. Not in the literal sense of the completion of the unfinished building, but in the sense of its integration into the overall physical urban fabric. The architecture of the church does not fit well with its surroun¬dings. Access to the different level of the place is difficult; its perimeter is blocked by barriers that make it difficult, not only in the perception of its architecture, but also in its integration into the urban area.
