The design challenge seeks to effectively tackle the dense nature of these dwellings, without compromising on the builders economic requirements, yet create a feeling of domesticity and privacy. Each apartment unit is designed with its own landscaped terrace or sit-out space. This series of terrace fronts form a successful buffer between adjacent and opposite blocks, thus making each apartment unit an individual house in itself. The idea of private landscaped terrace is achieved by means of interlock of apartment units, each one uniquely designed and positioned across this four storey complex. Thus a series of landscaped terraces tumble down to the larger central courtyard. The main courtyard is a pedestrian garden, free of motorized traffic, which in turn responds to the open landscape in front of the project.
