The TASTE restaurant forms the main anchor store in Arlanda airport, Stockholm. The name “TASTE – simply Swedish” reflects both the materials and form of the unit, and also the attention to the presentation of the food and beverages. ag5 was responsible for the unit’s design, logo and branding.
Rather than creating an interior design, we chose to create an object that rises out of the airport floor. Reflecting nature and quality ingredients, the restaurant takes its imagery and inspiration in form and materials from the Swedish Skärgård.
Hanging lights above the picnic tables give intimacy, a group of lights about the play area give a feeling of playfulness, and table lighting integrated in the “rocks” gives a sense of coziness. Cool Nordic lighting of the bar unit contrasts with the warm timber materials.
The TASTE restaurant has a turnover 40% above expectation. “The unit has hit the right market segment at the right time, and the restaurant’s design and visibility play an important role in this”, HMSHost revealed at the opening ceremony.
