The garden was first appeared in Song Dynasty (1127-1279). There is a small pond inside, which is not at all normal in the so called "Eastern Venice" Suzhou. The Mountain Climbing Gallery is its most significant feature. Another spectacular corner in the garden is the delicate pavilion cantilevered over the lake outside the fence of the garden. The fact of which has compensated the lack of water inside the landscape. It is professionally named as "Jiejing (Borrowing Landscape)" methodology.
