As the first public art facility built in Songzhuang, the well-recognized contemporary chinese art village out of Beijing city, this Art Center will provide not only an exhibition platform for artists but also a communication space for local villagers. Thus the exhibition spaces are lifted up to creat a welcoming horizontal flow with multi-purpose space on the ground level, to exhibit, to hang-out and chat. The second level are rather introversive art spaces with only sky light or courtyard light. The surrounding landscape does not necessarily intrude; here, art is on view.
