The Residenza Galleria, located between the Lugano lakefront and Via Nassa, the main street of the historical center, borders on two important historical buildings designed by the architects Mario Chiattone and Augusto Guidini. The context, the architectural characteristics of the building, and the need to safeguard heritage imposed a conservative approach on the project. The transformation involved keeping the existing load-bearing structure with a slight change in the slope of the roof to create an inhabitable attic. A new top with dormers, with the redesigning of the cornices, eaves and stucco, reinforces the relationship with the buildings of the historical center and the continuity of the entire lakefront. The project’s aim is to reassemble the already partially modified whole, to give the building a new balance.
