The project is a completion of the urban puzzle defined by Erik Van Egerrat’s masterplan for Milanofiori in Assago.
the residential building has a volume that is 13,50 x 33 x 37 m and is as tall as the adjacent buildings designed by park Associati, obr and Cino Zucchi. typologically it is characterized as a white plastered prism, with a central staircase and elevators. like a knife that cuts through space, it slightly destabilizes the vertical walls and roof with changes in the inclination of the roof.
the simple volume and the quality of its compactness characterise it as a “discreet” point of reference, built with simple expedients. the interiors are instead a chromatic environment that is identified by its spatial organisation, a place with a specific character that is differentiated at each level.

The layout of the 45 homes with an arrangement is defined by an inner gallery characterised by a void in the middle that runs through the ten floors of the building, lit by a skylight on the roof.
the solution has significant positive components in relation to social housing, both in terms of the general aspects of settlement, and for the efficiency of the distribution system, which in fact allows a single staircase to serve six apartments on the floor.

Another important aspect is related to the great aggregated flexibility of the apartments. the body of the building is in fact divided into three strips also structurally characterizing the system. the central area (3.8 m wide) allows you to place on opposite sides studios and three rooms, while the outer bands of 4 meters are occupied by the apartments.
