The house stands on an area of exceptional beauty and topography, with high relief, and an unobstructed view to the sea. The basic design principle has been to integrate the structure as much as possible into the landscape and the slope of the mountain. Therefore, it is developed in a linear layout, in one level, keeping all primary rooms towards the front and circulation towards the back, thus ensuring a sea view from all its premises. Central design idea has also been the building’s energy efficiency. Therefore, passive factors such as orientation, natural ventilation, proper insulation, a planted roof in conjunction with the use of movable vertical shades, solar panels, a wind energy system and geothermal heating and cooling systems ensure the building’s self-sufficiency via the usage of Renewable Energy sources as well as the mild integration into the landscape.
