Our objective was to build high-quality collective housing. Each housing unit incorporates within it particular qualities of life, embodied by the balconies, the terraces, the patios, the large height of the spaces, the private gardens, the views, the multiple orientations... Our building seeks to transform its urban and construction constraints into veritable assets. Opening onto rue Marcel Bontemps with continuous, large bay windows, this tiered building is lined along its interior garden side with ample, free-running terraces. Located in the center of a dense urban area, the successive pulling back of the building’s structure creates the conditions in which a maximum amount of air and light is provided to each housing unit. The “landscape” of this building evokes the rich heritage of “Art deco” industrial buildings. And in paying homage to this epoch and the works of Henri Sauvage, the building, with its enameled plate façade, establishes a unique presence in the urban context of Boulogne-Billancourt.
