BLITZ 1981-94 Skipper s.p.a. TUNE (name changed to) 1995 Cassina IXC. Ltd.
After winning first prize in the AJ.A. International Chair Competition in 1977, it took five years for this chair to go on the production line. It is not unusual for an industrial product involving dies for press or injection to take some time to reach mass production, but in this case the change of manufacturer caused further delays. The chair was designed shortly after the worldwide oil crisis, when the price of petrochemical materials surged, and the development from conceptual design to production model sought a comfortable yet slim chair with minimal use of materials.
