Belgium's DDS & Partners Architects has won the Milan Expo Horizontal Farm competition with a design that envisions part of the site for the 2015 Universal Exposition as a reinterpretation of the cascina, the traditional Italian farm.
The installation conceived by Migliore+Servetto Architects, B&B Italia / The Perfect Density, identifies the concept of density as the narrative fulcrum to celebrate the 50th anniversary of B&B Italia.
The motto of Expo 2015 in Milan, "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life," was translated in the French pavilion into a built landscape designed by Parisian architecture firm XTU, with lighting design by Bonn's Licht Kunst Licht.
Snarkitecture, the art/architecture duo of Alex Mustonen and Daniel Arsham, in collaboration with COS (Collection Of Style), have created an immersive environment where visitors to the Salone del Mobile "are invited to relax, interact and recharge among the chaos of the festival."
