The project is located in Prague 3 within an emerging residential neighborhood next to the public park named Jewish furnaces. The currently heterogeneous urban fabric is being gradually replaced by new mixed use developments.
The construction consists of three irregularly shaped five-floor apartment blocks sitting on a common plateau with underground parking and storage space. This raised bastion is defining the surrounding public space and protects the private and semi-private gardens from the street traffic. The organic form of the objects mediates the transition between the adjacent high density housing blocks and the public park. The whole building composition is radially evolving from a central entrance “plaza” which is roofed and serves as a common meeting and relaxing area.
The facade is cladded with hand-molded vertically corrugated white plaster, separated in each floor level by a horizontal black metal strip. The subtraction of the window openings and loggias is accentuated by a warm and smooth red color plaster.
The apartment layouts are orthogonally organized around a central circulation core and wrapped by the curved façade membrane which offers each apartment a special view.
