The Darling

The Darling is a 5 star, 171 room boutique hotel which plays a public role in linking Pyrmont’s Union Square to Darling Harbour. Its materiality responds to the historic context around the Pyrmont precinct, interplaying solid and void through the podium. The tower is a contrasting expression of sheer glazing and feathered edges, accentuating the public role and tactility of the base. The Darling is the first 5 star hotel in Australia to achieve naturally cross-ventilated rooms. It was awarded Best New Hotel Construction and Design 2012 at the Asia-Pacific International Hotel Awards and Best New Hotel Construction and Design at the 2012-2013 International Hotel Awards.
